UCL: 'I'm worried' — Ancelotti makes honest admission after defeat against Lille

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed concern following his side’s poor performance against Lille in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 2.

Los Blancos lost by a lone goal to the French outfit at Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Canadian international Jonathan David scored from the spot on the stroke of halftime after the ball came off the hand of Eduardo Camavinga in the penalty area.

It was the current title holders’ first defeat in a competitive fixture since their last loss to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey in January.

The loss ended Real Madrid’s 36-game unbeaten run across all competitions.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Ancelotti admitted that things are not working out for his team.

“The feeling is that we are having trouble generating, creating, and possession has been slow, with few ideas… today it is obvious that things have not worked out.

“We have forwards who need us to play more vertically.

“The sadness is because the feeling has not been good, you can lose because this is sport, but today we did not give a good feeling.

“I am worried. We have all the resources to learn and improve, we have to fix things quickly.”
