Tosin Adarabioyo has garnered significant attention from Nigerian fans after a photo of him wearing a Super Eagles training coat surfaced on social media.
The 26-year-old defender, who recently brought to an end his four-year stint at Fulham with a free transfer to Chelsea, is eligible to play for both Nigeria and the England national team.
Born in London to parents of Nigerian descent, Adarabioyo has represented England at youth levels but has yet to make his senior debut for Gareth Southgate's squad.
According to OwnGoalNigeria, Adarabioyo previously declined the opportunity to play for Nigeria in 2020. However, the recent viral photo, shared by Brila.net, suggests he may have reconsidered his decision.
In the photo, Adarabioyo is seen in a parking garage wearing the green and white coat of the Nigerian team, prompting fans to quickly share their reactions online.
Fans react to Adarabioyo’s photo
@thejoades, urging the NFF to act swiftly, stated: “Ekong and Omeruo are both 30. We should definitely be looking at this guy.”
@i_zed29 also commented: “He will be a great addition to the Super Eagles, no doubt. Pairing him with Bassey won’t be bad since they already have that partnership from before he joined Chelsea.”
@dejavu213, sending a message to the NFF, wrote: “We need him here. Bassey needs a partner.”
@Dare4xploits, speculating on how the defender got the coat, suggested: “Calvin Bassey must have given it to him.”
Adarabioyo also shared photos with the Nigerian duo, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, suggesting it may be a matter of time before he receives another call-up from the Nigerian team.
