Glasgow Rangers head coach Philippe Clement has hailed Nigerian international Cyriel Dessers following his outstanding performance in the Scottish Cup.

The 30-year-old bagged a hat-trick as Rangers thumped Fraserburgh 5-0 on Sunday, January 19.

Dessers scored the opener in the 27th minute before adding the second in the 57th minute of the game.

The former Cremonese striker provided the assist for the third goal before completing his hat-trick in stoppage time.

It was the first start for Dessers since November after losing his starting role to Moroccan international Hamza Igamane.

Rangers boss Clement believes the hat-trick was a reward for the Super Eagles striker's hard work.

“It proved his mentality, the way he has been working in the last few weeks when he has played less than before due to the rise of Hamza,” he told the club’s official website.

“Cyriel is a very good character in the dressing room who works hard, and he got his reward for all of that hard work.”

Dessers has now managed 15 goals and four assists for the Gers this season.
