A handful of Nigerian players were actively involved in the recently closed January transfer window.
While some of these players secured a permanent move, others went on a loan spell for the remainder of the season.
Let's put the spotlight on some of these players who changed clubs before the winter window officially closed on Monday, February 3.
Kelechi Iheanacho
Iheanacho joined Middlesbrough on a six-month loan deal for the remainder of the season from Sevilla.
The club is expected to pay a higher percentage of Iheanacho’s wage.
The Super Eagles star endured a difficult start at Sevilla since joining the club as a free agent in the summer.
Iheanacho managed just 11 appearances across all competitions for the Rojiblancos, scoring three goals.
Iheanacho played in the Championship last season, where he helped Leicester City win the second-tier English league and secure qualification to the Premiership.
Emmanuel Dennis
Emmanuel Dennis joined Sky Bet Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers on a loan deal from Nottingham Forest.
The 27-year-old became the fourth Nigerian international to sign for the Blue and Whites, following in the footsteps of Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Dickson Etuhu, and Hope Akpan.
The Super Eagles striker has not featured for Nottingham Forest this season, as he is considered surplus to requirements by Nuno Espirito Santo.
His last appearance for the Tricky Trees came in May 2023 against Crystal Palace.
Victor Udoh
The young Nigerian forward became the latest Nigerian player to sign for Southampton.
The 20-year-old joined the Saints on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Royal Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League.
Udoh is expected to continue his development at Southampton by joining the club's U-21 side.
The young forward had an impressive campaign with Royal Antwerp's B side, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances last season.
Chuba Akpom
Chuba Akpom secured a loan deal to Ligue 1 outfit Lille from Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam.
The French club have the option of making the move permanent after the end of the season.
Akpom, 23, joined Ajax from Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough in 2023.
