Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick has disclosed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will soon pronounce its judgement on the botched African Cup of Nations qualifier match involving Nigeria and Libya.
Pinnick, who is FIFA council member has stated that the highly anticipated verdict will be made public either Thursday, October 24 or Friday, October 25.
“CAF is taking this issue very seriously,” Pinnick said in an exclusive interview with Arise TV.
“CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, personifies integrity and Pan-Africanism.
“We deliberated on it in our executive committee meeting. It was a subject of intense discussion.
“We pointed out the fact that this is very serious because anything could have happened (to the Super Eagles).
“So, CAF are taking the matter seriously and we’re not leaving any stone unturned.”
The Super Eagles contingent was left stranded at Al Abraq Airport for over 16 hours after touching down in Libya for the return encounter of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The Libya FA failed to meet with the team or make any arrangements to transport them to their hotel, prompting a boycott from the Super Eagles.
The team later returned home to Nigeria as CAF delisted the fixture from its official website.
