The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed reports linking French coach Herve Renard to the vacant Super Eagles job.

Widely circulated media reports claimed that the NFF was pursuing the 55-year-old to take up the role as the next Super Eagles coach.

Currently in charge of the French women's national team, Renard recently announced his departure after the 2024 Paris Olympics, fueling speculation about his future.

However, a top NFF official has told the BBC that the reports are false, stating that the federation has not contacted the former Saudi Arabia coach.

Renard boasts an impressive record with African teams, having led Zambia and Ivory Coast to Nations Cup victories in 2012 and 2015, respectively.

He has also managed Angola (2010) and Morocco (2016-2019).

The NFF are currently on the hunt for a new head coach to fill the void left by Finidi George. The former international resigned following Nigeria's disappointing results against South Africa and Benin Republic in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
