Nigerians are heartbroken after medal hopeful Tobi Amusan fell short in the Women's 100m hurdles semi-final at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Amusan finished third in Heat 1 with a time of 12.55 seconds, missing out on automatic qualification. She finished ninth overall, thereby missing out on the final.

American Kendra Johnson won the heat with a time of 12.34 seconds, while Tokyo 2020 gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico finished just behind in 12.35 seconds.

Nigerians react to Tobi Amusan's loss

Nigerians, who see the three-time olympian as one of the country's hopes to win a medal at the Games, have taken to social media to express their disappointment.

Within minutes, the 4by400m team of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene and Chidi Okezie were disqualified from the final for stepping on the line.

Team Nigerian remains without a medal as the Summer Games enter its final two days, despite sending a team of 88 athletes to France.
