'Most beautiful player' in the NWFL reveals how she handles advances from male players

Two-time NWFL winner and Bayelsa Queens player, Peace Abbey, has shared how she manages the attention she receives from male fans and fellow players who attempt to woo her.

Abbey, who is widely regarded as the "most beautiful player" in the NWFL, says she tries to ignore individuals who persistently seek her attention.

In a chat with The Punch, she stated that her relationship status is private.

"Sorry, but that information about my relationship is private. As for advances, it’s quite funny because I receive a lot of messages, especially on social media, but I don’t respond to them. When they get tired, they stop. Sometimes, the conversation ends there. Physically, I don’t go out much, and as a footballer, I usually stay within spaces where I believe people wouldn’t bother me with such advances. But even male footballers ask me out. When they keep getting a ‘no’ for an answer, they eventually stop."

She further addressed the description of her as the "most beautiful player" in the league, emphasizing that every female player in the NWFL is beautiful.

"I believe everyone is beautiful in their own way, and being called the ‘most beautiful’ sounds nice. Besides, who doesn’t like being called pretty? But trust me, every female footballer is beautiful. I’m glad that these days, more of us are gaining visibility through social media, unlike in the past when people only noticed us if they went to the stadium or watched games on television. As professionals, we naturally look athletic when playing, but football doesn’t change how we look outside the pitch. Some of us prefer dressing in a more masculine style, but ultimately, fashion choices are about comfort."
