Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi believes it will be nearly an impossible mission for Arsenal to win the Premier League next season.

After five years at the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta has only managed to win the FA Cup since succeeding Unai Emery in December 2019.

Despite changing the Gunners' status to title contenders, the Spanish manager is yet to win his first Premier League title for the club, having lost the title to Manchester City in the last two seasons.

After spending €791.8 million on signings, according to Transfermarkt, Arteta has yet to deliver the Gunners' long-awaited first Premier League crown in 20 years.

Mikel Obi believes the current campaign would have been the best time for Arsenal to clinch the crown due to Manchester City's poor run of form in recent months. However, Arteta's side has relinquished the title to Liverpool.

The former Super Eagles midfielder believes Arteta should leave his role as manager if he fails to win the title, adding that the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and other contenders will be stronger next season, making it difficult for Arteta's side to challenge for the title.

"It's Liverpool's to lose. I don't think Arsenal will win it," Mikel Obi said about the 2024/25 Premier League title on his ObiOne podcast.

"If Mikel Arteta doesn't win the league next season, I think he should leave the football club. That's going to be seven seasons, and you have spent close to 800 million. I don't think they are going to win the league this season. If he doesn't win the league next season, I think he should walk because City are going to be back."
