The Super Eagles of Nigeria wrapped up their AFCON qualifiers campaign on a blistering note with a thumping 6-0 defeat against Sao Tome and Principe and the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Oyo on Sunday, September 10.
A hat-trick from Napoli's Starman Victor Osimhen coupled with a goal each from Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, and Taiwo Awoniyi sealed a convincing victory for the rampant Jose Peseiro side.
Osimhen opened the scoring from a thumping header in the 13th minute before Ademola Lookman made it two in the 27th minute to ensure that the three-time African champions go into the halftime break with a two-goal buffer.
In-form Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi made it three in the 51st minute before Osimhen grabbed his second from the spot in the 69th minute.
The Serie A top scorer completed his hat-trick ten minutes later following a fine assist from Samuel Chukwueze.
The new AC Milan signing completed the riot 5 minutes later to make it 6-0 for the Super Eagles who finished at the summit of Group A with 15 points.
Guinea-Bissau finished as runners-up with 10 points Sierra Leone and Sao Tome who managed 5 and 1 point respectively.
