Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso believes that Victor Boniface will not be affected by his failed move to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
Boniface was on the cusp of joining Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr side last month in a deal worth €60 million, but the deal hit a snag after the Saudi club snubbed the Nigerian international to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.
Despite the disappointment, Boniface hit the ground running on his return from injury, scoring 15 minutes into his return to the pitch.
He went on to grab the team's winner in their DFB Pokal clash against Koln in the quarterfinals.
Spanish boss Alonso believes that the failed Saudi move will not have any negative impact on the Super Eagles star.
“These things happen,” Alonso told the Bundesliga website.
“We spoke before this transfer window began. He was open to the idea of a transfer, but he’s happy here. That’s why I don’t think it will be a big stress for him. He’ll switch back in his head and accept the idea that he’s staying here. He’ll see his situation positively and fight for his position in the team.”
