Coach a local club, then we can talk Eagles later' - Fans react as Siasia's 5-year ban nears its end

The imminent news of the end of the ban on the ex-head coach of the Nigerian national team, Samson Siasia has sparked a wide range of reactions among football lovers.

Siasia, who FIFA previously handed a life ban in August 2019 over match-fixing allegations, successfully appealed the decision in 2021 after The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his life ban to five years and dismissed the 50,000 Swiss Francs fine initially imposed on him.

As Siasia's ban is set to end in August 2024, he is expected to regain his coaching freedom and return to the sport.

However, football lovers have reacted differently to the new developments surrounding Samson Siasia's professional sports career.

nuribm46_ suggested, "Plse NFF should endeavor to send him on refresher course."

panache_ent_ added, "He is outdated, he needs to refresh himself to get updated, he wasn't allowed to participate in anything football related, not even training"

odegua_ogunbor_ disagreed, "Capital NO"

polololastborn_official, wrote, "Nigeria need him."

cicinho141_ "Finally a COACH is found!!"

ken_mastery_ Suggested, "Let him start with the local club and show what he's capable of doing, and then we can talk about super eagles"

fidelenny_ wrote, "Let Samson Siasia set into the role of the Super Eagles' head coach. He still remains the best indigenous coach after coach Stephen Keshi of blessed memory. It's another question if he'll be able to reinvent himself after years he was banned. Really sympathise with his cause, completely left in the limbo."

pulchre2alexis_wrote, "Right now isn't the best time. He can be given any age grade team to Coach. I know he will want to win a Title"
