The manager of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca expressed his belief that the team is still a work in progress despite the recent poor run of results in the Premier League.
Chelsea closed out 2024 with setbacks against Fulham and Ipswich Town.
The team is currently in fourth place in the Premier League with 35 points after 19 matches.
In an interview with the club’s website, Maresca called for calm after back-to-back defeats this past week.
“There are none of us in this room who had expected us to be where we are now.
“It is proof that—as I have said many times—we are heading in the right direction.
“But it also shows that we are far from being able to compete with the best teams in England.”
