The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) concluded their long search for a new head coach to lead the Super Eagles following the resignation of Finidi George in June.

The former Enyimba coach stepped down from his role following Nigeria's disappointing results in the FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic.

The 2023 AFCON finalists were held to 1-1 draw at home to South Africa, before losing 2-1 away to Benin Republic in Abidjan.

After the qualifiers, Finidi George in a surprised statement announced his resignation after just 46 days into his appointment.

According to reports, the former international left the role following the NFF's decision to hire a foreign technical adviser for the team after his two matches in charge.

In a new development, the NFF in a statement on Tuesday, August 27 announced German tactician Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

The 58-year-old became the sixth German gaffer to be appointed for the Super Eagles role and 37th on the all-time list.
