The dust has finally settled on the controversies surrounding Victor Osimhen’s future after Turkish giants Galatasaray signed the Nigerian international on a season-long loan.
The 25-year-old joined the Turkish Super Lig side on a dry loan deal with no option or obligation to buy.
Galatasaray is expected to cover the entirety of Osimhen’s €9/10 million annual wages.
Osimhen’s release clause has also been slashed from €130 million to €75 million after he extended his deal with Napoli for another year.
As part of the new deal, the former Lille striker is free to leave the club permanently in January if a good offer arrives at Napoli’s table.
Excited Galatasaray fans thronged Istanbul Airport to welcome the reigning African Footballer of the Year after he touched down to complete his move around 3 a.m. local time.
The club also took to their various social media handles to announce the arrival of the Super Eagles striker in stunning fashion, including tweeting a picture of a mask with the caption “The masquerade is about to start.”
In another post, the Galatasaray X handle tweeted in Pidgin to engage Nigerian netizens.
Sky Sports has described the move as one of the biggest transfers in Turkish football history.
Osimhen has been handed jersey number 99 at his new home.
