A human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has urged former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to abandon their 2027 ambition and support former president Goodluck Jonathan for President in 2027.
Adeyanju said this amid coalition talks between Atiku, Obi and former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
According to him, the coalition is bound to fail if it fields Atiku or Obi as flag bearer in 2027.
He shared on X, "The only way coalition can work is if self centered politicians like Atiku & Obi promise not to contest and allow neutral candidates like GEJ and Kwankwaso to contest. Only then will they have a fighting chance against Tinubu & INEC. Anything else, they are working for Tinubu."
He also gave reasons why a Jonathan candidacy will be accepted by the north.
"GEJ will be acceptable to all northern politicians and stakeholders because he will do just one term & nothing more unlike a new southern candidate. It’s the stakeholders that control their localities. Politics is deep but also simple like mathematics if you are good at it," he said.
