Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has offered insights into why his side lost to Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals' second leg of the UEFA Champions League.
The Catalans recorded their first defeat of the year, losing 3-1 to the Bundesliga side at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.
Guinea international Serhou Guirassy scored all three goals, propelling him to the top of the scorers' chart with 13 goals.
Despite the defeat, the Spanish giants progressed to the next stage of the competition with a 5-3 aggregate scoreline, having won the first leg 4-0 at Montjuïc Stadium.
Speaking in a post-match reaction, German tactician Flick explained that his side was not at their best on the night.
“We are in the semi-finals,” Flick said.
“Two games were judged on this, and we deserve to be in the next round. They have a great team and made life very difficult for us, but we are through to the next round, and that is what counts.”
He added, “We didn’t play at our best today, but that was also down to Dortmund, who did really well. What the team has achieved in recent weeks is phenomenal. We are now one step further, but we are still a long way from the end.”
