Bashir El-Rufai, the son of a former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has apologized for a social media post which threatened Southern Kaduna residents.
In the now-deleted post on X, Bashir gave a reason why the people of Southern Kaduna, who were always getting killed under his father's eight-year reign, will continue to see hell.
This was after he shared a post which many saw as an insult to President Bola Tinubu.
Reacting, an X user, @qykali, said, "Look at this Giraffe neck calling the president Pablo, whereas your midget dad is a Fulani irredentist who engaged in industrial scale ethnic cleansing of people of Southern Kaduna for the eight years he was governor."
In response, Bashir said, "It is your stupid mother that is an elephant. And Southern Kaduna residents will keep seeing sheghe if they continue to attack indigenous Fulani herdsmen. Oloshi."
Bashir's response went viral and attracted widespread condemnation from many Nigerians.
Following the condemnation, the ex-governor's son deleted the post and issued an apology.
He said, "My tweet about Southern Kaduna residents & persecuted Fulani herdsmen was in bad taste & also badly written in an attempt to make a point in the heat of the moment. I apologize for that to those that know me, and are aware that I don’t harbor such sentiments."
