How RCCG elders made my father promote me - Adeboye's son

Pastor Leke Adeboye, the son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed how some elders convinced his father to approve his promotion.

Addressing a congregation, Adeboye said he started a parish of the RCCG during the COVID-19 pandemic and succeeded in growing it beyond expectation.

He said his performance convinced the elders to the point that they had to defend him when his father questioned their decision to promote him.

He said, "In the beginning, you would assume that your parent's visa covers you to heaven. But as you grow older, you realize that you have to go and get your own passport.

"So, I was like, this Jesus, I need to hold on to him for myself, I need to know him for myself.

"A period came in life when a group of people were gathered in a room. Promotion comes for us in RCCG, I believe every July and August.

"They were discussing that why should we promote Leke. After they approved the promotion, Daddy G.O called them. He asked, 'why are you promoting this guy? Afterall, you are supposed to be on my side.'

"They needed to defend me so one of them stood up and said 'sir, you pushed him out to start a parish in the middle of COIVD. That little church went from 80 members in months one and two, to 127 to about 256 to 380 to 560 and to about 800 in three years."

He said the elders also revealed some of his parish's achievements, which included feeding 7,000 people, adding that even if they didn't like him, there was no way they could set aside his achievement.

He said they had no choice but to promote him because he was the only one that met the criteria.
