The Ondo State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Mrs Sabina Izuorah in Ihiala, Anambra State, after a stolen 18-month-old baby was traced to her.
In a statement, the police said the baby was stolen from his mother and sold to Sabina by one Mr Lukman Isiaka and Abosede Olanipekun.
Lukman and Abosede had posed as siblings to deceive the baby's mother before perpetrating the act.
The police said Lukman approached the mother intending to date her and introduced Abosede as his sister.
The police said the mother "left the baby under the guise of getting biscuit for him while Lukman lured her to Olukayode plaza to buy her a phone.
"On getting to the plaza, he abandoned her and left.
"When she realized she was all alone, she went back to the shop and discovered her child was missing, as both Abosede and Lukman had left with her child."
The case was reported at a police station and through intelligence-led policing, the two suspects were arrested in Ottah village in Edo State.
"The suspects confessed to having sold the baby to one Mrs Sabina Izuorah in Ihiala, Anambra state. The police moved to the state and arrested the said woman with four babies and 10 Children between the ages of two and six," the police said.
The police said some parents have been able to identify their children, while some are yet to see theirs, adding that "effort is on to ensure other kids are found."
