Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi has opened up on speculations that he will win the 2024 CAF Footballer of the Year award ahead of Nigeria's Ademola Lookman.
French outlet Foot Mercato reports that the Moroccan international could emerge as the winner of the prestigious award, despite Lookman being tipped by many as the overwhelming favorite.
Responding to speculations of the leaked results, Hakimi stated that the nomination is a testament to his hard work over the years while expressing his desire to win the award.
"This nomination recognizes all the hard work I've put in since I was a child. I hope to win this important trophy in my career," Hakimi stated.
The former Inter Milan defender had an impressive season with PSG last season.
Hakimi guided the Parisians to the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France last season. He also secured a bronze medal for Morocco at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
