The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has called on beggars and criminals to leave the streets of Abuja and return to their home states as he prepares to launch a security initiative to address these concerns.
Speaking at a flag-off ceremony, Wike emphasized the importance of restoring dignity in Abuja, being the only city in the country with the right qualities to showcase to the world and must not be a hub for such activities.
He issued a clear warning to beggars and scavengers, calling their actions intentional and stating that such behavior will no longer be tolerated within the FCT.
“We’re launching a security scheme, where we are going to make sure, whether you call yourself you are not the cause, is not my business. Stay in you state and beg. FCT cannot be center of beggars. It’s the only city we have in Nigeria to showcase the world. We will not allow that, we will not allow it,” he said.
