Swedish coach Janne Andersson has disclosed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) reached out to him to take up the Super Eagles job.

The 62-year-old was reportedly among the leading candidates for the vacant role following the resignation of Finidi George in June.

Other coaches linked with the Super Eagles job include Frenchman Herve Renard, Malian tactician Eric Chelle, and Englishman Steve McClaren.

Speaking on why he declined the offer to coach the Super Eagles, the former IFK Norrköping manager described the terms of the contract as not ideal.

“Nigeria was very persistent and wanted me to take the job. There were many appealing aspects, but the overall situation wasn’t perfect. It didn’t feel 100 percent right, and it has to feel that way for me to fully commit,” he told Swedish newspaper Hallandsposten as per Dailypost.

“It would take a lot for me to take on a new coaching job. I am selective and have other things going on, like mentorship and board roles,” he added.
