Don Pedro Obaseki, the Director General of the Asue-Ogie Campaign Management Council, has entered into a wager with Seun Akinbaloye, the host of Politics Today on Channels Television ahead of the governorship elections.
During an interview on the show on Wednesday, September 11, Don Pedro bet N5 million if Dr. Asue Ighodalo loses the elections scheduled for Saturday, September 21.
He made the commitment as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gears up for the polls against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP).
He said, "Seun, I will bet you, and we have bet in some stations before. You are my friend, we didn't just start today. If we lose this election, I will send you 5 million naira, even if I have to sell my car. The bet is on."
In his response, Seun said, "You owe me 5 million naira in trust, and based on your promise, I commit to giving 2 million naira to those who can't pay school fees out of that 5 million naira if I win it."
Meanwhile, the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) declared support for Dr. Asue Ighodalo.
The Deputy Coordinator of NANS Zone B, Comrade Isaac Ogieva, disclosed this to journalists in Benin City. He said the decision was reached after thorough consultations with relevant stakeholders of the association.
Ogieva noted that the stakeholders examined the candidates of various political parties participating in the election before taking a stand.
