Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has thrown his support behind Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the polls on Saturday, September 21.
Makinde expressed his endorsement to Edo indigenes during the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrade of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan to international standards.
Amid rumors of his absence from the campaign in Edo State, Makinde affirmed his full backing for Ighodalo.
“Let me make it clear that Seyi Makinde is 100 percent with our candidate in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo. If the people of Edo want to see the real difference between what is delicious and what is nutritious, they should vote for Asue Ighodalo to get what is truly nutritious,” he stated.
Makinde also expressed support for the PDP’s acting national chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC).
He dismissed reports of a conflicting meeting in Bauchi, emphasizing his commitment to the Iliya Damagum-led NWC.
“We are 100 percent behind the NWC’s decisions to reposition our party. Despite any internal issues, we must focus on the crucial election this Saturday and unite to deliver our candidate,” Makinde added.
