El-Rufai is bitter because Ribadu is best NSA ever - Omokri

El-Rufai and Ribadu El-Rufai and Ribadu

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has revealed that Nuhu Ribadu is the best National Security Adviser (NSA) Nigeria has ever had.

According to him, this is because since he was appointed to the position, terrorists have had their numbers decimated by security agencies.

This was as he urged Nigerians to disregard the criticisms from disciples of former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who recently expressed displeasure with Ribadu

Omokri wrote, "Let me ask you a question: Who is the leader of Boko Haram today? Or the leader of the Islamic State – West Africa Province?

"You don't know. If I had asked you this question under Buhari, you would have had an answer. But under President Tinubu, you cannot respond. Why? Because their leadership has been decimated, their numbers have been excoriated, and their appeal has deteriorated.

"So, when disciples of Nasir el-Rufai write nonsense about Malam Nuhu Ribadu being the worst National Security Adviser since that office was created, I just empathise with them. Yes, they must take a bite out of Malam Ribadu because they are bitter, so they will need to chew on something sweet.

"After seventy-three people were killed by herdsmen in Benue during the Yuletide of 2017, General Buhari offered his Inspector of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to relocate to Benue to fish out the killers and end the killings.

"But the killings continued. And continued. Until General Buhari himself was forced to relocate to Benue State on Monday, March 12, 2018. Only while there did he discover that his IGP had never obeyed his order.

"At a meeting with some survivors, Buhari said 'I’m not aware that the I-G did not spend 24 hours in the state as directed by me, I am getting to know in this meeting.'

"Contrast that with what occurred under President Tinubu.

"There were killings in Plateau last week, and the very next day, the National Security Adviser was there and took steps to ensure that the killings do not reoccur.

"That is a practical and proactive approach to national security.

"It is easy to forget where Nigeria is coming from. And if we do not remember our past ordeal, we will not realise how much progress we have made under President Tinubu and Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

"On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, Nigeria's Federal Capital was overrun by four hundred terrorists in motorbikes who attacked Kuje Prisons and freed 879 inmates, many of whom were terrorists.

"Two weeks later, on Friday, July 29, 2022, terrorists attacked the Brigade of Guards. For those who do not know, the Brigade of Guards are the personal bodyguards of the President of Nigeria.

"Earlier on, on March 28, 2022, terrorists bombed the Kaduna-Abuja railway, taking a train and its passengers hostage and ten persons while taking tens more hostage.

"General Buhari left without recapturing these escaped terrorists or their colleagues who freed them.

"However, nothing like these incidents has occurred in Abuja since Monday, June 26, 2023, when Malam Nuhu Ribadu assumed office as Nigeria's National Security Adviser.

"Instead, we have gradually seen a reduction in terrorism and banditry in Northern Nigeria.

"Throughout the eight years of the previous administration, not a single bandit leader was arrested, killed or convicted. But under the Tinubu administration, the National Security Adviser has ensured that more than fourteen notoriously murderous bandit leaders have been killed, including the following:

1. Kachalla Ali Kawaje
2. Kachalla Halilu Sububu
3. Kachalla Damina
4. Kachalla Dangote
5. Kachalla Jafaru
6. Kachalla Barume
7. Kachalla Shehu
8. Tsoho
9. Kachalla Yellow Mai Buhu
10. Yellow Sirajo
11. Kachalla Dan Muhammadu
12. Kachalla Makasko
13. Yellow Hassan
14. Boderi
15. Kachalla Dan Ba Birki
16. Auta Dan Mai Jan Kai

"And as a result of this, peace has returned to hive swathes of the North. No more do we see photos of prominent persons meeting with heavily armed Kachallaa/bandit leaders as occurred under Nasir el-Rufai as Kaduna Governor. Instead, bandits are being killed, arrested, tried and convicted.

"Malam Ribadu has delivered results rather than activity and is, in my opinion, the best NSA since General Ibrahim Babangida created that role in 1990.

"But of course, I understand that in his bitterness, Malam el-Rufai will do everything in his power to paint a different picture. But at least, under Malam Ribadu's watchful eye, he can take a train ride from Kaduna to Abuja without writing his will."
