'He gave me my first assist' — Iheanacho names Sevilla player he is excited to play with after completing move

Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho has named Jesús Navas as the Sevilla player he is excited to play alongside following the completion of his move to the La Liga side.

The 27-year-old completed his move to the Rojiblancos signing a two-year deal with the seven-time Europa League winners on Thursday, August 1.

Iheanacho joined Sevilla as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City in June.

The Super Eagles forward spent seven seasons at the King Power Stadium, scoring 61 goals and providing 34 assists in 234 appearances across all competitions.

Having officially joined the one-time La Liga champions, Iheanacho will reunite with veteran Spanish defender Jesus Navas.

Iheanacho played with the Sevilla captain during the early days of his career at Manchester City and is enthused with the idea of meeting the European champion again.

“That was a long, long time ago,” Iheanacho the club’s official website.

“Jesus Navas is a legend in this city and this football club. He’s a great human being.

“He’s a lovely guy, and he’s a good footballer as well. He gave me my first assist, and I am grateful to him for that. Here we go again, I am coming to meet him in his home. I’ll be happy to see him soon and to play with him.”
