Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his family have tested negative for the deadly coronavirus.
He made the announcement via a post on his Instagram account on Friday after conducting the test, stating that "my family and aides are negative as well."
This comes after he announced on Thursday that the state discharged 11 patients after treatment by the NCDC.
His statement reads:
"I know many of us had been clamouring that I go for the COVID-19 test. As a responsible leader, I know it is important that I get tested for the virus to ensure nothing distracts me from my role and responsibility of leading Lagos and fighting the disease during this period.
"I am happy to announce that my result has returned NEGATIVE.
He also added that "the First Lady of Lagos @jokesanwoolu and their immediate family members, as well as aides, have all tested negative to #COVID19.
"We thank Lagos residents for their concerns and supports and urge all to maintain social distancing. Together we can defeat #COVID19."
Lagos State has recorded the highest number of cases in Nigeria with over 80 cases out of the 184 coronavirus cases in Nigeria.
