Nigerians have taken their anger out on the National Identity Management Commission after the agency responsible for managing Nigeria's identity database tweeted a picture showing British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua undergoing registration.
The tweet read: "@anthonyfjoshua enrolls for the National Identification Number and issued his NIN slip."

Sadly that tweet did go down well with the millions of Nigerians over the country who have struggled with registering with the commission as well as receiving their permanent ID Card- a luxury only a few citizens have.
In their anger, they lashed at the commission's ineptitude to register Nigerians and issue them permanent ID Cards even after years of registering. Omezuo took the first swipe
If you enrolled for National ID between 2013-2015 and haven't gotten your National ID card till date. kindly RT we want to let NIMC know they've failed us. https://t.co/Z439pbRlvQ

I have not even collected my National ID which I did in 2014 and your office sends me a message that my National ID had expired. pic.twitter.com/rJXT7yf6Cb

Adonai said, "Anthony Joshua applied for his National ID card today and believe me when I say it’ll be handed to him before the end of today or tomorrow because he’s not like “You and I”.
In this Nigeria just have money, if not you will suffer."

The height of the ineptitude is demonstrated in Tenny's tweet
You have now elevated a slip to means of identification because of your inability to issue National ID cards. Shame! https://t.co/NQBv7BxoZd

Savage!
I applied for my national ID since 2015. I hope Anthony Joshua's will not be ready before mine. He just applied now

How many years would it take for National ID to be ready ? https://t.co/Lebv5R0A43

Sad story
In 2014 when I enrolled for National ID, they said I should pay extra 2k if I want it delivered to my doorstep.

Remembering when i registered my National ID card back in 2013 & still its not ready.
Japan repaired this road in just 6 days.
China built this hospital in just 10 days.
BUT it take @nimc_ng 7 years to print a plastic card.

Dreylo hit the nail on the head
Anthony Joshua applying for this National ID card is surprising it’s like the Nigerian Government is trying very hard to prove A.J is Nigerian while people like us don’t matter.

If this isn't true, we don't know what else is
I've enrolled for this national ID card since 2014, and I'm yet to be issued a permanent ID card. All I've to show for it is the slip.
— Olamide Obe (@olajideobe) February 18, 2020
But Anthony Joshua will most definitely get issued a permanent ID card before me.
Nigeria is for the highest bidder. https://t.co/a3Sgfg2Wps
Even that force man at Anthony Joshua’s back if checked very well doesn’t have his National ID ready yet.

Man’s shocked how this boy will get his National ID in 2hrs time.
NG system isn’t for the poor bro. Let that sink in to your head. pic.twitter.com/WZdvtkHfJQ
