Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has disclosed the circumstances surrounding his transfer to Manchester United five years ago.
In a recent interview with Super Falcons striker Rasheedat Ajibade, the 35-year-old revealed that he prayed for Manchester United's pursuit of other strikers to fail ahead of his move to Old Trafford.
Ighalo, who described his move to Manchester United as a dream come true, stated that he was willing to do everything to see the transfer materialize, including taking a pay cut.
“It was a dream when my agent called me and said that Manchester United wanted a striker on loan because Martial was injured and Rashford was injured," Ighalo stated.
“He said they had four options for strikers and you’re the third option.
“I started praying against those other options, I prayed those options would not work, and that my opportunity to play for Manchester United must come to pass.”
Ighalo currently plies his trade for Al-Wehda in the Saudi Pro League.
