An unidentified woman lost her life in a tragic hit-and-run accident involving a tricycle rider in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred on Unity Road just before the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, which runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the last Saturday of each month. According to eyewitness accounts, the woman was struck by the tricycle as she was going about her morning routine.

Immediately following the incident, she was rushed to a private hospital located in the Sabo-Oke area of Ilorin, where medical staff pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Efforts to obtain comments from representatives of both the police and the Federal Road Safety Corps regarding the incident were unsuccessful. Additionally, it remains unclear whether the victim's relatives have been informed of her tragic passing.

The community mourns the loss, and calls for accountability in the wake of the hit-and-run continue to grow.
