Throwback: I did not call Tinubu a looter - Ribadu

A throwback video has shown the National Security Adviser, NSA Nuhu Ribadu, denying ever saying that President Bola Tinubu is corrupt.

MyNigeria reported that one Naja'atu Mohammed accused Ribadu of labelling Tinubu as one of the most corrupt politicians in Nigeria.

According to her, Ribadu made the statement while he was the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Despite a letter from Ribadu's lawyer urging her to retract her statement, Naja'atu remained adamant and maintained her position.

However, a throwback video of a presidential debate involving Ribadu showed him answering questions on why he was running to be President on a platform created by Tinubu, whom he once labelled as a looter.

Responding, Ribadu said, "I did not say so. I never said he's a looter of international standards or whatever.

"What I said... and I was making a report on all the cases that we were investigating then.

"What I said was that the case of Bola Tinubu was a case involving international dimension. It was not a case that was being handled by the EFCC, therefore I would not have much to say about it.

"In any case, I have never come out to judge and sentence any individual before taking him to the court."
