Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ogun State counterpart Dapo Abiodun have arrived in Edo State for the inauguration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as Governor.

The duo joins a long list of dignitaries who are set to attend the program scheduled for Tuesday, November 12.

Governor-elect Okpebholo will begin his first term as governor today after defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He garnered 291,667 votes against Ighodalo's 247,274.

However, the PDP has lodged a complaint of fraud and vowed to challenge the result in court.

Meanwhile, outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki has pardoned 10 inmates who have less than one year left to serve their terms in correctional centers in the state.

Those pardoned were Igwe Kelechukwu, Esazobor Ohioze, Gift Osaretun, Takyi Rockson, Dikuar Friday, Ossai Glory, Augustine Sunday, Daulagha Ebifagha Godluck, James Paul, and Anas Isah.

The pardon, as an exercise of the governor’s prerogative of mercy, was announced in a statement by the Office of the Special Adviser, Media, Governor’s Office, led by Crusoe Osagie.
