Osimhen's social media outburst exposes the monster in Super Eagles setup — Veteran journalist, Ojugbana

Charles Ojugbana believes Osimhen's outburst reveals deeper cracks in the Super Eagles team Charles Ojugbana believes Osimhen's outburst reveals deeper cracks in the Super Eagles team

Veteran sports journalist Charles Ojugbana has offered insights into the recent turmoil in Nigerian football following significant developments over the past weekend.

The upheaval began with the surprising resignation of Finidi George as head coach of the Super Eagles after just two games in charge. His decision reportedly stemmed from the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) choice to appoint a foreign technical adviser for the team.

Shortly after George's resignation, Victor Osimhen publicly criticized the former Enyimba coach amid reports suggesting George questioned Osimhen's commitment to the national team.

In an exclusive interview on Arise TV's morning show, Ojugbana, a former board member of the NFF, expressed his perspective on the situation, suggesting that Osimhen's outburst may signify deeper issues within the Super Eagles setup.

"I simply feel that what Victor Osimhen exhibited was a small slice of a bigger monster that was in that team. I mean in sports and in team football, we all know that for discipline to reign, what occurs in house remain in house, the veteran journalist said.

"It is unethical for a player or coach even a coach for that matter to go the press exposing the misgivings and ill feelings in house it is not done, you come out in front of the world and create a united front so that your supporters and fans and everybody will be on the same page. So, if a player begins to speak the way Osimhen did, it is an indication of something bigger," he concluded.
