The House of Representatives has approved Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Army Staff, COAS.
His confirmation came after a report was presented by Babajimi Benson, the chairman of the Committee on Defense.
On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the Joint Committee on Army and Defense screened Oluyede.
Oluyede was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the Acting COAS following the ill health of the former Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, who later passed away.
Lagbaja was laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja as family, colleagues, and dignitaries gathered to bid the late army chief farewell.
