A London-based Nigerian woman, Henrietta Onyema who is known for her generosity and efforts in helping those has received applause from current, past neigbours and wellwishers after a video of her was shared by the BBC.
In a video shared by the British media, Henrietta who has lived in Bermondsey for over 30 years cultivated the habit of mobilizing foods and supplies every weekend to be given away to those in need around South London.
Explaining her reason for operating a food bank, she noted that some neighbours are house bound, as they do not go out much and are unable to ask for help.
She noted that one can get foods such as banana, tomatoes, potatoes, bread, pasta, canned foods, among others from her food bank which she started after her church was unable to continue with the distribution.
According to Henrietta she started the food bank with her own money, however, she now receives donations from local people and supermarkets.
Urging people to give selflessly, Henrietta said; “It pleases your heart when you does something good. Everybody should help each other in this world. God has made the world so beautiful. If you have four potatoes and you give somebody one its not going to make you poor. But the more you give the more you receive.”
She added that she will continue to help those in need for as long as she can.
Since the video of Henrietta hit the internet, several social media users have applauded her for her generosity.
