Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) has said there's a need to address a matter of grave concern regarding the unauthorized destruction of public infrastructure by certain telecommunications contractors.

In a statement , LASIMRA said it is troubling that the companies have taken it upon themselves to damage public property while conducting unauthorized fibre installations.

"We wish to bring to public attention a specific incident wherein Concept Point Limited was observed damaging infrastructure at Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin, at 1:43 AM.

"Thanks to an alert citizen's intervention, this unauthorized activity, conducted without proper LASIMRA permits, was promptly halted. Subsequently, two company employees were taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the organization," LASIMRA said.

The agency then called upon all residents to exercise heightened vigilance regarding such activities in their communities.

"Your role as citizens is invaluable in safeguarding our public infrastructure. We assure you that LASIMRA shall pursue all legal avenues to hold violators accountable and maintain the sanctity of our regulatory framework.

"We remain resolute in our commitment to protecting public infrastructure and maintaining order within our great city. Your continued support in this endeavour is greatly appreciated," it said.
