A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) and member of the Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Chief Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, is dead.
MyNigeria learnt that the APC chieftain died in the early hours of Thursday.
The news was confirmed by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile.
In the statement, Sanwo-Olu described Ajose as a seasoned administrator and a passionate leader
He said,“The passing of Chief Sunny Ajose is a great loss to Lagos State, especially our party, the All Progressives Congress, because of the critical role the deceased was playing in the party before his death, both as a GAC member and the apex party leader in Badagry.
“Chief Ajose was an epitome of dedication and selflessness in public service. He contributed positively to the public service sector as Head of Service during the tenure of our leader, President Bola Tinubu, as the Governor of Lagos State. He also played an active role as a one time Special Adviser to the Governor (Governor’s Office) in Lagos State.
“Chief Sunny Ajose, as a consummate politician and committed grassroots leader, contributed immensely to the growth and development of our great party as Lagos APC Deputy Chairman. He was a trustworthy, devoted and progressive democrat."
Sanwo-Olu also recalled the ease enjoyed working with Ajose and the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) on many issues relating to the development of Badagry and Lagos as a whole.
He added,“Chief Ajose will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and the entire political class, particularly GAC, chieftains, and members of the ruling party across Lagos State and Nigeria, especially in Badagry, where he was the apex leader before his death.
“I sympathise with GAC members, leaders, and members of APC over the death of one of our leaders. I pray that Almighty God is pleased with his soul and grants the immediate and political family, friends, and associates, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
Also mourning the deceased is the Lagos State Commissioner of Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogundele, who paid a condolence visit to the residence of the decease.
In a post on X, he said, "This morning, I paid a condolence visit to the residence of our late revered leader, grandfather, father, friend, mentor, and confidant, Pa Sunny Akinsanya Ajose (OON). Baba was a distinguished former Lagos State Head of Service, Apex Leader of the Badagry Federation, and esteemed member of the Lagos State Governing Advisory Council.
"During my visit, I had the opportunity to meet with his family and offer my heartfelt condolences. It was a moment of reflection on the remarkable life and legacy of Pa Ajose, fondly known as "Youngest." His contributions to our community and his unwavering commitment to service will forever be remembered.
"The loss of such a great leader and mentor is deeply felt, not only by his family and close associates but by the entire Badagry community. As we mourn his passing, let us continue to keep his wife, family, and all those he impacted in our prayers, seeking strength and comfort in these challenging times.
"Pa Ajose's legacy lives on, and his memory will forever be cherished."
