Victor Okhai, a political analyst believes Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is facing a significant challenge as he competes for the top job in the state.

Okhai, who was a guest on Arise TV's coverage of the ongoing Edo governorship elections said the PDP party machinery is working against Ighodalo.

According to him, the legacy faction of the PDP, which controls the local government chairmen, wards, and party officials, has turned its back on him.

"Quite frankly, I feel very sorry for him. He has worked very hard, but he is up against some powerful forces. Firstly, the legacy faction of the PDP, which is his own party, is working against him. They have all the local government chairmen, ward officials, and party officials," he said.

"When Obaseki came, he tried to change it. He went to court but did not succeed. So, the party machinery, which is under the legacy group, is working directly against him."
