'I don’t have to perform in Nigeria' – Davido replies threat to his December show

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that some critics are planning to cancel his show following his comment about the Nigerian economy in an American podcast.

During an interview on an American podcast, ‘Big Homies House’, Davido stated that Nigeria’s economy is in shambles, which is why many chose to stay in the US rather than return home.

Davido’s comment did not go well with many who slammed him over his remarks. Some personalities questioned his decision to make such comments on an international platform, adding that Nigeria made him who he is.

Reacting to the criticisms, Davido took to his social media page to respond to the backlash.

On his X handle, he wrote, “Yall mad cus we the real ambassadors!”

In another post, Davido alleged that there are threats to cancel his show in Lagos this December over his remarks.

He wrote, “Dem say dem go cancel my show cus of my interview … loooool I don’t have to perform in Nigeria.”
