The Federal Government has cautioned its citizens to be aware of the rising wave of ransomware attacks on individuals and businesses.
This was made known by the Nigeria Computer and Emergency Response Team (ngCERT) via its official X handle.
Taking to their platform, they wrote: "[ADVISORY]: ESCALATION OF RANSOMWARE ATTACK IN NIGERIA
ngCERT has detected an increase in ransomware attacks by the Phobos ransomware group, specifically targeting critical cloud service providers within our national cyberspace."
The ngCERT team, which rated the attacks as high and critical, is Nigeria’s Internet police unit under the Office of the National Security Adviser.
They added that they are working closely with vulnerable and affected organizations to resolve the incidents and prevent more attacks in the future.
