Edo 2024: LP lawmaker begs for vote after N10m donation to market women

Honourable Murphy Omoruyi, the lawmaker representing Ikpoba-Okha/Egor federal constituency says the Labour Party remains the party to beat ahead of the governorship election scheduled for September 21.

Omoruyi, a part stalwart also encouraged members of the public to come out en masse and vote for the candidate of the party, Olumide Akpata in the polls.

He made the appeal on Tuesday, June 4 when he presented a cheque of Ten million Naira ( N10M ) to 200 market women from his constituency at the Teachers House in Egor LGA.

According to him, “The best party for the people of Edo State is the Labour Party. The others have been tried and we know where they have taken our state to so I appeal to you to mobilise your people and come out enmasse on the day of election to vote for the party that will rescue Edo and that is Labour Party.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Magdalene speaking on behalf of others commended Hon Omoruyi for remembering them at this tough moment and pledged to make judicious use of the fund.

The lawmaker described the event as a special one as he indicated he has been used by God to support and uplift their businesses. He further noted the gesture was part of his campaign promises aimed at building a strong community.

He also announced a training programme for women to enhance their businesses and instituted a yearly scholarship for SS 3 students from selected secondary schools in the two local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
