Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has explained why Marc Cucurella was shown a red card after the Blues' hard-fought 2-1 win over Brentford in the Premier League.

The Spanish international was shown a second yellow after the final whistle, ruling him out of Chelsea's next game against Everton.

The 26-year-old was penalized for shoving Brentford's Kevin Schade.

In a post-match reaction, Maresca disclosed that Cucurella was shown a red for bad behavior.

“I didn’t see the second yellow card. The referee said the second yellow card was for bad attitude. There are things we can do better,” Maresca told reporters.

Cucurella gave the Blues the lead with two minutes to the interval before Nicolas Jackson added another in the 80th minute.

Cameroon international Bryan Mbuemo scored for the Bees in the 90th minute.
