Chivido24: Atiku, Otti, Saraki, and other politicians likely to attend the 'wedding of the year'

The wedding between music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and his partner Chioma Rowland has dominated the media landscape since it emerged last week.

The news of their wedding was initially reported by the controversial blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus on her Instagram page.

Davido confirmed the news in a viral video that featured several guests, including Tobi Adegboyega, a Nigerian pastor and founder of the now-defunct Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, formerly based in London, England.

In the video, Davido told one of the guests, “Come to Nigeria for my wedding.” Davido also shared some pre-wedding photos ahead of the much-anticipated wedding.

The couple, who had their engagement following the demise of Ifeanyi Adeleke, their first son in a tragic incident in 2022, tied the knot in a traditional ceremony. They have welcomed a set of twins since then.

The wedding scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, is regarded as the most anticipated and is likely going to be the biggest wedding of the year 2024.

The CEO of 30 Billion Gang (30 BG) is from the wealthy Adeleke family, who are regarded as one of the richest families in Nigeria. They are also a leading political family in Osun state, with key stakes in the educational sector, the political landscape, oil and gas, and entertainment.

Invites to these exclusive event scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, have been delivered to the crème de la crème in Nigeria.

While fans will hope they can get a first-hand experience of what is arguably the biggest wedding of the year, only a select few will be invited.

Meanwhile, the wedding is set to see the gathering of some of Nigeria's most influential politicians.

Below are some key politicians expected at the event

Bukola Saraki

Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, is a good friend of the Adeleke family due to their political affiliation.

A staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saraki was instrumental in Ademola Adeleke, Davido's uncle, winning the governorship race in 2022.

Dr. Saraki also congratulated Davido as he celebrated his 31st birthday on November 21.

His congratulatory message was posted on his verified Instagram page.

It read, “One thing about Davido is that he works hard. From his music to his endorsements, to his philanthropic efforts, he is constantly working, constantly breaking down barriers, and constantly making sure that people’s lives are better.”

“As he celebrates another year today, I wish David all-round success in all his endeavors!” he added.

Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu and Davido have had an on-and-off relationship over the years. The duo have had a go at each other privately and publicly on social media over Sophia Momodu.

Momodu had in an old interview said the scuffle with Davido was bigger than his battle with the country’s former military Head of State, the late Gen. Sanni Abacha.

The magazine publisher described the clash as his ‘biggest battle ever’ due to the musician’s popularity.

“Fighting with David was my biggest battle ever,” Momodu said as the housemates listened with rapt attention.

Despite this, Momodu commiserated with Davido on the death of Ifeanyi.

Another likely reason the publisher of Ovation magazine will attend the wedding is the close relationship he has with Governor Ademola Adeleke, who Davido has described as his favorite uncle.

Governor Ademola Adeleke

The relationship between the Governor of Osun State and Davido is public knowledge. The pair have been seen in several viral videos exuding what many have described as an enviable relationship.

Davido was present during the 2022 Osun State elections, with the singer aggressively campaigning for his uncle in the lead-up to the elections. Some argue his stardom was crucial to his uncle’s success.

The governor is the younger brother of the first civilian governor of Osun, the late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke. Davido’s father is one of Ademola’s older brothers.

Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti

Davido says he has known Dr. Alex Otti all his life in response to a fan after his shock performance in Abia in 2023.

Recall the afrobeats singer performed in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, after the swearing-in of Alex Otti and his deputy, Ikechuckwu Emetu.

Nigerians had speculated that the new governor might be a waster of resources considering the amount of money that might have been spent to bring the musician to the event.

Responding to the critics in a tweet, Davido said he wasn’t paid any amount to perform.

"Not a dime. I’ve known Excellency (Alex Otti) all my life, and I’m sure he will do well for the people of Abia State,” he said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu

Despite being from a different political party, Governor Sanwo-Olu won't decline the opportunity to be part of a party of a lifetime, especially as it happens in his state. It will also be an opportunity to meet old friends as well as network with potential business and political partners.

Recall Sanwo-Olu urged Davido and other Nigerian nominees not to feel disheartened for not winning any award at the 66th Grammy Awards.

In a post on X, Sanwo-Olu stated that the nominees made Nigeria proud and their representation of Afrobeats is unparalleled.

He wrote: A special shoutout to @burnaboy, @davido, @ayrastarr, @asakemusik, @temsbaby, @Olamide and all Nigerian talents represented as nominees at the Grammy’s, the apex music award in the world.

“Your mastery reached unparalleled heights on those exclusive platforms, showcasing world-class talent.

Atiku Abubakar

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a close ally of the Adeleke family.

A chieftain of the party, Atiku was key to the victory of Governor Adeleke at the Osun polls and has maintained the relationship with Davido, with whom he has shared an exciting relationship.

Both men share a respectful relationship on social media.

In 2019, the star and Chioma Rowland took time to meet Atiku in Abuja.

Davido posted a photo from the meet and captioned “Thank You for having us sir!”
