The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to reschedule the next edition of the African Cup of Nations to December.
According to widespread reports, CAF has abandoned the initial plan of hosting the tournament in July and has opted for December instead.
The decision to move the tournament from the summer is aimed at avoiding a clash with the newly expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the USA.
Morocco will be the host nation for the tournament, winning the bid over co-host candidates Nigeria and Benin.
Traditionally, the Africa Cup of Nations is held in January-February, with the 2019 edition in Egypt being the only time the tournament was held in the summer.
