Former Super Eagles international Emmanuel Amunike has expressed confidence in Nigeria's ability to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite their poor start to the qualifiers.
The three-time African champions are currently preparing for their crucial game against Rwanda on Friday, March 21.
Eric Chelle's team will then face Zimbabwe in their next qualifier four days later.
While acknowledging the challenge ahead, Amunike has voiced his support for the 2023 AFCON finalists to claim a World Cup ticket.
“I hope the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup next year. I wish them the very best of luck,” Amunike told Heartland’s media.
“In their upcoming games, I hope they will be able to win. But we also have to be realistic—it’s a very difficult task because, in football, anything is possible.
“I hope the Super Eagles start with a win against Rwanda.”
