In-form Nigerian international Ademola Lookman is set to earn a new contract at Atalanta following his exceptional performances since joining the club.

Lookman has been phenomenal since joining the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2022 from RB Leipzig after Leicester City declined to make his loan deal permanent.

The 27-year-old joined La Dea for a reported fee of €15 million, signing a four-year deal with the club.

He guided Atalanta to their first-ever European title after scoring a historic hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.

The Nigerian international finished 14th in the 2024 Ballon d'Or ranking, becoming the only African to enter the top 30 nominees.

Lookman has also been tipped as the overwhelming favourite to win the 2024 African Footballer of the Year award.

His heroics have garnered interest from top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal and Liverpool, with Paris Saint-Germain emerging as frontrunners for his signature after their initial attempt to sign him last summer failed.

Atalanta, however, are planning to double the player's salary as part of their newly improved offer to the Super Eagles winger to ward off interest from his suitors.
