Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has shared his thoughts on Nigerian international Ademola Lookman's remarkable rise in form since joining the Serie A outfit.
Lookman's form has been on an upward trajectory since joining the Bergamo-based club in the summer of 2022 from RB Leipzig.
The 27-year-old delivered Atalanta's first major silverware in over 70 years with a stellar performance in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, where he netted a historic hat-trick.
The former Leicester City loanee ended last season with 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions and has already netted 12 goals in 20 appearances in the current campaign.
The Super Eagles star's performance has not gone unnoticed, as he was ranked 14th in the Ballon d'Or ceremony and was recently named the African Footballer of the Year.
Gasperini has attributed Lookman's brilliant form to the club's playing style and his consistency.
"He's a top player," Gasperini remarked. "In terms of character, there might be players who are more consistent and solid, but that’s normal. Even his role naturally allows for fluctuations.
"He always needs to be in top physical condition, but he has developed into an extraordinary player, truly among the best in Europe and the world. His improved consistency has turned him into a true Atalanta player."
