Despite this life-changing event, Ayefele's musical journey began, and he has since become a prominent figure in the Nigerian gospel music scene.

Ayefele hails from Ipoti-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, where he attended Our Saviours Anglican Primary School for his primary and secondary education. Before his music career took off, Ayefele worked briefly as a journalist and broadcaster at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria in Ibadan. His music career began in earnest in 1997, following his accident. His debut album, "Bitter Experience," released in 1998, catapulted him into the limelight. He has since released several other albums, including "Sweet Experience," "Something Else," "Divine Intervention," and "Life after Death," the latter dedicated to Gbenga Adeboye, a notable Nigerian radio presenter, musician, and comedian.

Yinka Ayefele's contributions to music and broadcasting have earned him over 200 awards, including the prestigious Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) awarded by former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Beyond music, Ayefele owns a network of radio stations under the Fresh FM brand, with the Ibadan station established in 2015 and licensed by the Nigerian National Broadcasting Commission. Other stations are located in Abeokuta, Ado Ekiti, Akure, Osogbo, and Lagos. His resilience and talent have not only made a significant impact on Nigeria's music industry but also in broadcasting, illustrating his remarkable ability to turn personal adversity into widespread influence and success.
