Place of Birth:
Kano State, Nigeria

Sanusi Ado Bayero, a prominent Nigerian royal figure, was born into the prestigious Kano Emirate, one of the most influential traditional states in Nigeria. Born on April 1, 1956, he is the son of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who reigned from 1963 until he died in 2014. Growing up as a crowned prince, Sanusi was immersed in the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the Kano Emirate, where he was groomed for leadership and public service.

Sanusi pursued his education with diligence, attending some of Nigeria's best schools which laid a solid academic foundation. He later specialized in law, gaining critical legal expertise that would prove invaluable in his professional career. His legal training played a crucial role in his career, allowing him to take on various significant roles, including his tenure as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), where he focused on enhancing efficiency and the economic impact of the ports.

In 2019, amid heightened political tensions and rivalries within the Kano Emirates, Sanusi Ado Bayero was forced into exile. The reason for his exile was rooted in a combination of political maneuvering and intra-royal family disputes.

After five years of royal exile and obscurity and with the dethronement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and the subsequent enthronement of his younger brother Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir, in July 2020, Sanusi Ado was reinstated in his position in the Kano Emirate Council and made him Wamban Kano

Sanusi Ado speaks fluent Arabic, Hausa, English, and French. He enjoys playing squash, reading, traveling, farming, and horse riding.
